Digital Edge Subsea is the global leader in digital video recording and inspection systems for the subsea market.
Established in 2010 in Cumbria, England, Digital Edge Subsea has developed a reputation for technical excellence and reliability. With more than a thousand of our DVRs in the market place, our products have become the recorders of choice for subsea service companies and ROV operators around the world.
With a range of hardware options available, including 2u, 3u and 4u rack mountable devices, standalone workstations and laptop DVRs, all with 4 channel video recording, overlay, serial data logging and our versatile “Edge software”, there is a solution for every diver and ROV video requirement.
Our user-configurable Edge software allows workpacks to be created prior to the offshore campaign, or on the fly if necessary, to ensure that all subsea tasks are completed. All serial data, video files and events are logged against components/objects with log files generated automatically. This ensures accurate and efficient data management, reducing the offshore burden on ROV and diver personnel.
Our recent advances and partnership with Australian video streaming specialists, Harvest Technology have enabled us to record 4 channels of video offshore, linked to the internal, customisable inspection database whilst simultaneously streaming video and audio to the cloud over low bandwidth.
Harvest Technology’s Nodestream© provides global remote situational awareness capability, in real time via the cloud, to command centres, technical authorities, specialists and clients, directly from the DVR in the field. Nodestream© facilitates the streaming of high definition video in as little as 250kb of bandwidth, removing the requirement for additional LEO satellite comms to existing VSAT systems.
Our partnership with Harvest Technology also allows us to support remote operations by securely streaming 4 channels of video and data from an offshore location to any onshore command centre around the word. Whilst the DVRs can remain completely offline, the Nodestream© video streaming solution pioneered by Harvest Technology provides point-to-point streaming using 384-bit encryption with a rolling key, with up to 70% bandwidth reduction. The solution also provides multi-way audio communication between sites.
