Barnacle Systems Inc. develops BRNKL, an advanced vessel intelligence and mission-recording platform built for government, defence, coast guard and search-and-rescue fleets operating in demanding maritime environments.
Designed as a “black box for boats,” BRNKL Black automatically captures and synchronizes critical vessel and mission data, including: video, GPS, engine and sensor data, vessel motion and crew exposure; creating a complete record for after-action review, incident reconstruction, training and operational analysis. For fleet operators, BRNKL Fleet extends this capability across multiple vessels to support readiness visibility, condition-based maintenance and reduced unplanned downtime.
For high-speed SAR and patrol craft, BRNKL also addresses the critical connection between vessel performance and human performance. BRNKL Black and MAREC are the only approved hardware products for NATO HFM RTG-419, an ongoing 15-nation NATO Human Factors study examining the effects of high-speed boat impact exposure on operators. The research is helping establish standardized data collection around whole-body vibration, shock and rapid-onset impacts to better understand fatigue, musculoskeletal injury and traumatic brain injury risk.
