AMOKABEL

Since 1901 our facility in the historic cable making town of Leigh has been at the forefront of cable design, manufacturing and innovation. As well as playing a key role in the electrification of Britain in the early 1900’s, cables from Leigh have empowered industries and transport around the world, evolving with the needs
of technology and safety ever since. From the first defence contract in World War 1 to the cables for HMS Queen Mary in 1931, it’s safe to say marine and defence is in our very DNA.

We manufacture a vast range of Power, Instrumentation, Communication and Signalling Cables to meet international shipping, military, naval engineering and defence specifications. We continue to research, develop and manufacture unique cable designs for new applications and the needs of tomorrow’s technology.

We also manufacture composite cables where multiple cable types are consolidated into one
single time and space saving construction, offering a bespoke solution for when space is at a premium
and cost and time efficient installation is required. Amokabel NXT Cable technology has been pivotal in supporting many defence programs over the years, most recently the Type 26 and Hunter Class frigate programs.
Global Combat Ship Program Since 2018, Amokabel has been involved in the Type 26 Frigate Program by BAE Systems UK. These frigates are designed for anti-submarine warfare, air defence, and humanitarian missions. Recently, Amokabel has also started supporting the River Class Destroyer Program
for Canada, set to replace older classes and featuring advanced combat systems. Hunter Class Frigate Program
Australia is also deploying REX Marine cable technology in their Hunter Class Frigate Program, enhancing the
Royal Australian Navy’s capabilities with modern, versatile frigates.
